Dispatches from the Field, a new digital program designed to bring The Explorers Club community closer—wherever you are. Each session kicks off with a 15-20-minute talk from a Featured Speaker, recorded and posted later to the public on explorers.org and our YouTube channel. This will be followed by Campfire sessions—intimate, Members-Only breakout groups where you can connect, share ideas, and build relationships. This edition features Lee Morgan FN’23 , to present “Four Thousand Paws: Caring for the Dogs of the Iditarod” Adventures and Misadventures in Caring for the Greatest Canine Athletes: the dogs of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, a legendary 1,000-mile endurance challenge across Alaska that tests the grit, skill, and bond between mushers and their sled dogs. The talk covers the veterinary care that keeps these athletes safe, along with some of the more whimsical moments shared with these wonderful huskies, and touches on the Alaskan landscape and the Indigenous peoples who call it home.
