Known for his introspective singer-songwriter records Heartland Ballerina and California Dream, written while traveling the country by van, Sless is now stepping into a louder, bolder chapter. TURBO. The project began taking shape during the writing sessions for “Country Butter,” Sless’ latest single, released in August 2026. Written at a songwriting camp in the North Georgia mountains, the song gave Sless permission to embrace a more confident, frontman-driven side of himself. A month later, Sless reunited in Los Angeles with his “Country Butter” collaborators, John Samuel Gerhart and Tim Allen, with an ambitious goal: to write an anthemic rock epic drawing from the theatrical grandeur of Bowie and Queen. The result was “American Turbo,” which caught the attention of Gerhart’s independent label, LIGHTWORK. His subsequent signing gave Sless and the label the framework to develop the mythic alter ego Tommy Turbo and build an entire conceptual world around him. That world became the foundation for the forthcoming TOMMY TURBO concept album, a theatrical rock odyssey exploring agency, destiny, excess and the struggle to create meaning in a world that constantly pushes back. Based in East Dallas, Sless fronts TOM SLESS & TURBO in a high-energy theatrical rock show that pushes the music beyond its recorded arrangements. The stage production continues to evolve show by show through evolving arrangements, performance and visual language. Website | Facebook | Instagram | Spotify
