Jyl Draws Every Day: A Creature Double Feature Exhibit by Jyl Dittbenner: September 3-October 30 at the Massabesic Center in Auburn Art exhibit viewing access may be restricted during private event rentals. Calling ahead to confirm is recommended. Exhibit Description: With this body of work, Dittbenner started by exploring various creatures that serve as signs of spring. Particularly the peepers that sing us into the season, the salamanders and turtles trying to cross roads, and leading up to small furry animals. Later in the series it became an opportunity to explore color as well. Examples of Jyl’s art. (Click to enlarge.) Bio: Jyl Dittbenner is a Manchester local Artist. She can be found all over downtown Manchester sketching and painting her way through the afternoons. Dittbenner enjoys local coffee, talking to community members and drawing with friends. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Art from St. Anselm College and has a Masters of Education from Notre Dame. Jyl has developed a tremendous portfolio of murals around the city including telephone boxes, electric boxes, and walls. Her tallest undertaking are two pillars in Arms Park. Some other murals of note include the entire Rex Theatre, the Lobby Mural at Great North Aleworks, and a piece of Cat Alley. From her earliest memories, she remembers loving to draw. Every day she and a best friend would spend their days sitting at the kitchen table drawing. A number of years ago she took the challenge to draw every day. She loves getting out and doing it, as well as being able to see it and know she has done a little thing to make Manchester more beautiful and unique.
