About this event
Experience the excitement of live orchestral music as the Santa Clarita Symphony Orchestra opens its 2026–27 season with Voices of the People—an afternoon of sweeping melodies, brilliant orchestral color, and music inspired by culture, tradition, and shared experience. At the heart of the program is Grieg’s beloved Piano Concerto in A Minor, featuring Sora Corro, Grand Prize winner of SCSO’s Young Soloist Competition. From its unforgettable opening to its soaring finale, Grieg’s concerto is one of classical music’s most dramatic and immediately captivating works. The orchestra also presents the West Coast premiere of David Glen Russell’s The American Experiment, written in celebration of the United States 250th anniversary. Santa Clarita City Councilman Bill Miranda joins the orchestra as a special guest, narrating excerpts from America’s founding documents woven into the music. The afternoon concludes with Rimsky-Korsakov’s dazzling Russian Easter Overture, a showcase for the full orchestra filled with brilliant colors, ancient melodies, and an exhilarating finale. New to the symphony? No classical music experience is needed—just come ready to enjoy the music. Voices of the People is a great way to experience the power of a live orchestra right here in Santa Clarita.
