About this event
August auditions: The Anglican Singers, Artists-in-Residence at historic St. James Episcopal Church, New London, CT invite experienced singers to audition. All voice parts are welcome; tenors are especially encouraged to apply. Scholarships are available for high school-age students who sing with the group; these scholarships may be applied toward private voice instruction or summer camp tuition for similar training. The Anglican Singers is an independent performing arts organization dedicated to perpetuating and presenting the English choral tradition as found in the Anglican service of Choral Evensong. Under the direction of Music Director Simon Holt, we perform a rich and varied repertoire spanning from the Renaissance to contemporary music. No affiliation with any church is required for membership. Rehearsals are each Tuesday evening from late August through May at 6:30 – 8:00 pm. We present Evensong services at St. James and additional venues in Connecticut, as well as an Advent Lessons & Carols service and a holiday concert. In the summer of 2028, The Anglican Singers will be the choir in residence at Norwich Cathedral (UK), where in addition to singing daily Evensong and Sunday morning Eucharist, we enjoy close-knit camaraderie and wonderfully planned excursions. We have previously sung in residence at Ely, Bristol, Exeter, Truro, Lichfield, Worcester Cathedrals and others. Please contact Simon Holt to arrange for an audition: smo.artisticdirector@yahoo.com For more information
