About this event

Come along with us for golden aspens and the drama of the elk rut! It’s impossible to ignore the magic of fall in the Rockies! The fall rut is a spectacular display of elk mating behavior featuring bugling, posturing, and herding displays by the bulls. Paired with the reds and golds of fall foliage, you can view this extraordinary from the comfort of our 14-passenger minibus. Our knowledgeable guides will discuss elk ecology, interpret elk behavior, and share elk artifacts such as antlers and hides for participants to see and touch. This tour is approximately 2.5 hours in length and is suitable for all ages. We will make several stops, depending on where elk are gathering, and participants will be able to disembark at each stop. Some stops may include a short walk over unpaved ground to maximize viewing opportunities. ADA accessible transportation is available! Please select the ADA accessible ticket at checkout for this option. All required park entrance fees and permits are included in your registration. When: Most Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays in September and early October, departing at 3:30pm. Approximate return time is 6:00pm. Our return may be delayed by as much as 30 minutes due to traffic conditions in Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. Where: Meet your guide and board the bus at the Fall River Visitor Center, 3450 Fall River Road, Estes Park, CO. Questions?
