About this event

SANTA CLARITA, CA — The Santa Clarita Artists Association (SCAA) is launching its most anticipated creative tradition under new leadership this season. Newly appointed SCAA President Pro Tem and Event Chair Tobi Beck—who also continues her long-standing three-year tenure as SCAA Gallery Chair—has announced the return of the 36th Annual Art Classic Fine Art Competition & Exhibit. This professionally judged exhibition will take place on Saturday, October 3 and Sunday, October 4, 2026 inside Cedar Hall at The Centre (20880 Centre Pointe Parkway). Serving as SCAA’s premier public fundraiser and showcase, the Art Classic is evolving under Beck's direction to celebrate contemporary creators with two newly defined media categories. The historic competition now features 10 distinct media divisions: Digital Art and Fluid Media, alongside traditional favorites like Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor, Dry Media, 2D Mixed Media & Collage, Photography, Sculpture & 3D Art, and an elite Masters Division. Call for Artists: All visual artists in the community aged 16 or older are highly encouraged to submit their original artwork. To enter, participants simply need to become active members of SCAA online. The final online submission deadline is Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at Midnight. The public weekend schedule offers two distinct ways to experience the collection: Awards Presentation & Artist Celebration: Saturday, Oct. 3 | 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM. Features the live presentation of competitive ribbons, Best of Show, and the prestigious Excellence in Art award presented by the City of Santa Clarita. Attendees will enjoy live musical entertainment, light appetizers, and fine desserts. Free Public Viewing Hours: Sunday, Oct. 4 | 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM. A casual browsing experience for families, residents, and art lovers to view the complete collection, including ribbon-winners. Every original masterpiece will be available for purchase, alongside a vibrant Silent Auction directly supporting vital member programming and the annual High School Student Art Scholarship fund. SCAA is currently inviting local businesses, sponsors, and patrons to support their community programming by donating themed gift baskets, gift certificates, or custom experiences to the silent auction. Winner’s Weekend Gallery Encore: NEW! This year, the prestige of the competition moves to Old Town Newhall! SCAA ribbon-winning works will stand on display for an exclusive public encore showcase at the SCAA Gallery (22508 6th Street) from October 9–11, 2026, bringing the celebration to a whole new audience. Admission to the entire weekend exhibition is completely free to the public; however, advanced digital RSVP registration is required for entry to Saturday’s awards celebration. To reserve free Saturday seats, submit an artwork entry, or register a silent auction donation, please visit santaclaritaartists.org/scaa-art-classic.
