September 26: Learn the fundamentals of pine needle basket weaving by starting a basket using the spiral stitch and raffia as the binding material. October 3: Continue weaving your basket while learning the figure-eight stitch. Participants will be encouraged to incorporate this decorative technique into their finished piece. And shown how to close/finish their baskets. Class Description: Learn the art of pine needle basketry in this two-part workshop. Participants will create a coiled basket using coulter & ponderosa pine needles and raffia while learning both spiral and figure-eight stitching techniques. Along the way, you'll gain an appreciation for the history of pine needle weaving and leave with a beautiful handmade basket. No experience is required, and all pine needles have been sourced from California by the instructor.
